Lifeguard/Certification ClassesThe YMCA offers Lifeguarding classes throughout the year. Participants must be 16 years of age prior to beginning class. Individuals must complete the following requirements: a long shallow drive, 500 yard crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, inverted breaststroke, and sidestroke kick; tread water 2 minutes using legs only; and surface dive to the bottom of the pool. After successfully completing the course, participants will be certified in YMCA lifeguarding, CPR for the Professional Rescurer, AED Essentials, Oxygen Administration, and First Aid.
