Water Safety Swim Policy

Open Swim is available but may be limited during program times.

For the safety of our children, all Youth members ages 11 will be given a Youth Swim Test.

Youth, 11 and under, must have an adult (age 19 and up) actively engaged in the water with them unless they have passed a swim test, are signed in with a lifeguard, and are wearing identifications.

The following swim necklace colors represent the child's swimming ability along with their privileges:

RED - a supervised non-swimmer; no test was taken/did not achieve yellow

  •  RED MUST be accompanied in the water by an adult (19+) who remains actively  engaged with them
  •  RED MUST remain in shallow end of the pool

YELLOW - adult must supervise youth at all times

  •  YELLOW may swim in shallow end of the pool in armpit deep or less

GREEN - can swim 25 yards, changing body positions AND can tread water for 30 seconds

  •   GREEN may swim in shallow or deep areas of the pool
  •   MUST be signed in by an adult who remains in the Fulton YMCA facility
